Welcome Board Member - Tom Schutte

 

Tom was born and raised in the cattle ranch and oilfield country of central Wyoming, where his family still resides. Following high school, he attended the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD where he received a B.S. in General Engineering. Tom then received his commission as a U.S. Naval Officer and served six years on active duty, with assignments in Seattle, WA and San Diego, CA.

Tom resigned from the Navy in 1998 and began working for John Deere here in Waterloo. He has held a variety of assignments with Deere since then, including time in manufacturing, marketing, and operations management. He also had the opportunity to complete his MBA from the University of Chicago in 2003. Tom is currently involved with new product development of agricultural tractors at the Product Engineering Center.

He and his family have spent nine of the last eleven years here in the Cedar Valley. His wife, Jan and their two boys Connor (4) and Garrett (18 months) returned here last January after living in Overland Park, KS for two years, and they currently reside in Cedar Falls. His hobbies include hunting, travel, and all the things associated with raising two young boys!

The VCCV welcomes Tom!
